A Legacy That Began in 1907

Founded in 1907 by the visionary students of Cotton College, Maharana Club stands as one of the pioneering sports institutions in Northeast India. What began as a humble initiative by young enthusiasts has evolved into a cornerstone of Assamese sports culture.

The club's first public appearance was in October 1907, marking the beginning of a journey that would see Maharana become the first team from Assam to participate in major national tournaments outside the province.

Legacy & History

A journey through over a century of sporting excellence

1907

The Beginning

Founded by students of Cotton College. First public appearance in October 1907, initially focusing on hockey and football.

1932-1937

National Recognition

Reached final of Narayanpur Shield competition. First major tournament outside the province, bringing Assam to national spotlight.

1939

Historic IFA Shield

Became the first team from Assam to participate in the prestigious IFA Shield, marking a golden era for Northeast Indian football.

1947

IFC Shield Victory

Won the IFC Shield at Lucknow. Sarat Das was adjudged the best player of the tournament and received a special medal.

1952

All-India Glory

Won the All-India Kamal Kumari Trophy at Benaras, cementing Maharana's reputation as a powerhouse in Indian football.
